The vocabulary of a car wash, before you write your request
A few terms you will meet when asking for a wash at home:
Exterior. Bodywork, windows, wheels. The part that shows from the street.
Interior. Seats, floor mats, dashboard, windows from the inside. It needs the cabin to be cleared.
Vacuuming. Running the vacuum over seats and mats. It assumes whatever is lying about can be moved.
The spot. Where the car stands during the wash: a garage, an underground bay, a space in front of the building. The cleaner works there with water, passing traffic and neighbours in mind.
The walk-round. Scratches, scuffs and marks already there before the wash. Noting or photographing them saves any argument afterwards.
A worked example, from the evening before to the visit
Take Karim, who lives in a residence in Hay Riad, where the roads are wide and access is easy. He has booked an at-home car wash on AdomApp for the next morning. In the evening he goes round his car.
Belongings. He empties the cabin: car papers, glasses, chargers, loose change, bags. He clears the boot as well, even if it is not part of the wash, since a boot opened for the vacuum has to be clear. Nothing valuable stays in the car: no documents, no valuables.
Keys. He decides beforehand how the cleaner will get at them. Either he is there and hands them over in person, or he agrees a safe method. He does not text the garage code or leave the key somewhere visible. He settles whether the key stays in the car or is handed back to him at the end.
The spot. His car is parked in the residence courtyard. He asks the caretaker whether washing is allowed there and whether a water point is within reach. He leaves free space all round the car so the doors can open.
The walk-round. Before bed he takes a few photos of the bodywork. It is not distrust, just a shared reference point.
If the car is parked elsewhere
Not everyone has a courtyard. In a dense district near the medina, such as Océan, the older housing is dense. Rabat's medina is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Give the exact address, how the car is parked and anything that might get in the way. The professional will judge whether the wash can be done on site or whether it is better to move the car.
By contrast, in a district of villas and individual houses such as Les Orangers, simply say whether entry is through a gate and who opens it.
On the day of the wash
